Lesson Planning

One of my favorite lessons I created as a teacher at Mabelle B. Avery Middle School was an interactive murder mystery escape room based on Roald Dahl’s story Landlady. Students had to utilize close reading strategies and their understanding of literary concepts to solve puzzles, decipher code words, and finally decode a voicemail recording of my best British accent. This combination of strategic thinking and engaging lesson planning helped me improve the writing scores among 71% of my students.
